মুসলিম প্রাপ্ত বয়স্ত নর-নারীর লিখিত চুক্তির মাধ্যমে বিয়ে সম্পাদিত হয়। খ্রিস্টান ধর্মাবলম্বীদের কাছে বিয়ে একটি ধর্মীয় অনুষ্ঠান ও পবিত্র চুক্তি। তাদের বিয়ে লিখিত মাধ্যমে সম্পাদিত হয়। বাধ্যতামূলকভাবে করতে হয় রেজিস্ট্রি। খ্রিস্টান  বিয়েতে রেজিস্ট্রেশন ও আইনগত যে বিধান রয়েছে তাতে স্বামী -স্ত্রী উভয়েরই স্বার্থ রক্ষার কথা বলা হয়েছে।

বাংলাদেশে ১৮৭২ সালের খ্রিস্টান ম্যারেজ অ্যাক্ট (খ্রিস্টান বিবাহ আইন) অনুযায়ী, খ্রিস্ট ধর্মাবলম্বীদের বিয়ে সম্পাদিত হয়। তাদের বিয়ে রেজিস্ট্রি করার আগে কিছু নিয়ম পালন করতে হয়, যা অন্যান্য ধর্মের চেয়ে কিছুটা আলাদা।

আসুন জেনে নেই খ্রিস্টান বিয়েতে রেজিস্ট্রেশন করার আগে বাধ্যতামূলক বিষয়গুলো। 

গির্জার  কাছে নোটিশ

বিয়ে রেজিস্ট্রেশনের আগে পাত্রপাত্রীর পুরো নাম, ডাক নাম, পেশা বা অবস্থা ও বাসস্থানের ঠিকানা গির্জার কাছে নোটিশ আকারে দিতে পাঠাতে হবে। নোটিশ প্রাপ্তির পর গির্জার যাজক নোটিশটি খোলা জায়গায় টানিয়ে দেবেন যাতে বিষয়টি সবার নজরে আসে।

আদর্শ জীবনসঙ্গী খুঁজতে

আপত্তি বিবেচ্য

পাত্র ও পাত্রী পক্ষের পাঠানো নোটিশ কয়েক সপ্তাহ ঝোলানো থাকবে। নোটিশের কোনো বিষয়ে আপত্তি থাকলে তা গির্জায় জানাতে হবে। আর আপত্তি না পেলে গির্জার প্রধান বিয়ের দুটি পক্ষের কাছ থেকে একটি ঘোষণা গ্রহণ করবেন। এছাড়া এই ঘোষণাটি বিয়ের পক্ষগুলো ম্যাজিস্ট্রেটের সামনে হাজির হয়ে দেবেন। সেই ঘোষণায় কিছু বিধিনিষেধ আছে যা দুই পক্ষকে পূরণ করতে হবে।

আত্মীয়তা বা রক্তের সম্পর্ক

পাত্র-পাত্রীর মধ্যে বিবাহ বা আত্নীয় সম্পর্কের বিষয়টি বিবেচনা করা হবে। পাত্রপাত্রীর মধ্যে জানা মতে এমন কোনো ঘনিষ্ঠ আত্মীয়তা বা রক্তের সম্পর্ক নেই যাতে তাদের বিয়েতে আইনসম্মত বাধা আছে।

পাত্র-পাত্রী সাবালক

বিয়ের জন্য পাত্র-পাত্রীকে অবশ্যই সাবালক হতে হবে। পাত্র-পাত্রী যদি সাবালক না হয় তবে বিবাহ আইননত বৈধ হবে না।

এই ঘোষণা সম্পন্ন হওয়ার কমপক্ষে চারদিন পর গির্জার যাজক বিয়ের আবেদনকারীকে একটি সার্টিফিকেট দেবেন। সেই সার্টিফিকেট জারির দুই মাসের মধ্যে বিয়ে রেজিস্ট্রেশন করতে হবে

খিস্টানদের বিয়ের নিয়ম ও শর্তঃ

পাত্র ও পাত্রী উভয় পক্ষ খ্রিস্টান হলেই কেবল এই পদ্ধতিতে বিয়ে সম্পন্ন করা যাবে। ধারাবাহিক ভাবে আলোচনা করা হলোঃ

১. প্রথমেই পাত্র ও পাত্রীকে নিচের উল্লেখিত তথ্য দিয়ে চার্চের বরাবর নোটিশ দিতে হবে।

ক. পাত্র ও পাত্রীর নাম (পুরো নাম লিখতে হবে) ডাক নাম সহ

খ. পাত্র ও পাত্রীর স্থায়ী ও বর্তমান ঠিকানা

গ. পাত্র ও পাত্রী উভয়ের বর্তমান ঠিকানার স্থানীয় চেয়ারম্যানের নিকট থেকে বসবাসের প্রমান স্বরূপ প্রত্যয়ন পত্র।

ঘ. পাত্র পাত্রী যে এলাকার চার্চ থেকে বিয়ে সম্পাদন করতে ইচ্ছুক সেই চার্চের নাম এবং স্থান। অথবা অন্যকোন স্থানে বিয়ে সম্পাদন করতে চাইলে তার ঠিকানা।

মূলত উপরোক্ত তথ্য সম্বলিত একটি চার্চ রেজিস্ট্রেশন বুক প্রত্যেকটি চার্চে থাকে সেখানে এই তথ্য গুলো দেওয়া হয়ে গেলেই চার্চের ধর্মযাজকের কাছে নোটিশ দেওয়া হয়েছে বলে ধরে নেওয়া হয়। অথবা লিখিত আকারে কোন আইনজীবীর মাধ্যমে বা বিয়ের পাত্র পাত্রীগন নিজেরাই উপরোক্ত তথ্য দিয়ে একটি নোটিশ প্রস্তত করে ধর্মযাজকের কাছে প্রদান করবেন। নোটিশটি সরকারি রেজিস্ট্রি ডাকযোগে দেওয়াই ভালো।

২. নোটিশ প্রাপ্তির পর ধর্মযাজক নোটিশটি চার্চের ভেতরে দৃশ্যমান স্থানে অন্তত ৩ সপ্তাহ ঝুলিয়ে রাখবেন। যদি এই ৩ সপ্তাহের মধ্যে কোন আপত্তি না আসে তাহলে ধর্মযাজক বিয়ের প্রক্রিয়া শুরূ করবেন।

৩. ধর্মযাজক প্রথমেই পাত্র এবং পাত্রীর নিকট থেকে একটি হলফনামা বা ঘোষনা চাইবেন। পাত্র ও পাত্রীকে এই হলফনামা বা ঘোষনা যে কোন জুডিশিয়াল ম্যাজিস্ট্রেটের সামনে উপস্থিত হয়ে সম্পন্ন করতে হবে। হলফ নামায় মূলত যে বিষয়ে পাত্র পাত্রী গন হলফ করবেন তা হলোঃ

ক. বিয়ের পাত্র পাত্রীর মধ্যে এমন কোন ঘনিষ্ঠতা, রক্তের সম্পর্ক বা আত্নীয়তা নেই যা তাদের কে ১৮৭২ সনের খিস্টান ম্যারেজ এ্যাক্ট অনুযায়ী বিয়ে করতে বাধা দান করে।

খ. বিয়ের পাত্র পাত্রী বাংলাদেশের আইন অনুযায়ী বিয়ের বয়স হয়েছে। ছেলের ক্ষেত্রে ২১ বছর এবং মেয়ের ক্ষেত্রে ১৮ বছর হতে হবে।

৪. এই হলফনামা সম্পাদনের তারিখ থেকে কমপক্ষে ৪ দিন পর ধর্মযাজক পাত্র ও পাত্রীকে একটি সার্টিফিকেট বা প্রত্যয়ন করবেন। তবে এটিই চুড়ান্ত নয়। মূলত এটি এনগেজমেন্ট বা বাগদানের সময় প্রদান করা হয়।

৫. এই প্রত্যয়ন বা সার্টিফিকেট প্রাপ্তির ২ মাসের মধ্যে পক্ষগনকে বিয়েটি রেজিস্ট্রেশন করতে হবে। এবং এর মধ্য দিয়েই খ্রিস্টান ধর্মের বিয়ের নিয়ম কানুন সম্পন্ন হয়। এবং এটি চূড়ান্ত বৈধতা পায়।
